Arestin® contains the antibiotic minocycline, which is used to fight bacteria and infection. Once Arestin® is placed in the periodontal pockets, the medication is slowly released to treat the infection. We use Arestin® in addition to traditional forms of gum disease treatment (such as a deep cleaning procedure known as scaling and planing) to eliminate any bacteria or infection that still remains after other treatment has been complete.
